Symptoms & Causes of Endometriosis

Endometriosis is the major cause of infertility in women. The condition can be cured with proper treatment if it is in the initial stages of development. The lining of the uterus is known as the endometrium. When the endometrium juts out of the womb and grows out of it, the condition is called endometriosis. In the worst case, surgical removal of the uterus is the only viable option. By far, Laparoscopic Uterus Removal is considered to be the best and safest surgical procedure.

In abnormal conditions, the endometrium might just spread over any part of the female reproductive system, including the fallopian tubes and ovaries. It may also cover areas of abdominal wall, urinary bladder, and small and large intestines. The consequent biochemical disbalance of hormones makes it difficult for women to conceive. It does not allow eggs to form in a healthy way and impairs the implanting of the embryo. Sometimes the embryo is destroyed by changes happening in the immune system.

SYMPTOMS OF ENDOMYTRIOIS

Endometriosis can often be mistaken for other issues that cause excessive pelvic pain. Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), ovarian cysts, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), etc., have very similar symptoms. A patient with endometriosis shows one or more of these symptoms:

  • Extremely painful period cramps.
  • Highly irregular menstrual cycles with heavy and prolonged bleeding.
  • Every sexual encounter causes excruciating pain.
  • Painful bowel movements (with bloody stools).
  • Pelvic pain that persists and worsens,
  • diarrhea accompanied by severe pain, intestinal pain, constipation, bloating, and nausea
  • Infertility is the surest sign of endometriosis.

CAUSES OF ENDOMETRIOSIS

The exact cause of endometriosis is still unknown. The cause might be due to genetic factors or disorders of the immune system. Retrograde menstruation might also be one of the causes. Besides, the endometrial cells may attach to a surgical scar

Laparoscopic Uterus Removal can improve the painful condition that is associated with endometriosis in fact there is no better way to get rid of endometriosis except for surgery. Laparoscopic Uterus Removal is the last resort to save the life of a patient diagnosed with endometriosis.
