What is an ectopic pregnancy?
An ectopic pregnancy usually occurs when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, most often in the fallopian tube. It can cause symptoms like pelvic pain, vaginal bleeding, nausea, and dizziness, and requires immediate medical attention. Diagnosis is usually done through pelvic examination, ultrasound, and blood tests. Treatment may involve medication like methotrexate or surgery, depending on the severity. Although the condition is serious, many women can still conceive again, but the chances may be lower if a fallopian tube has been removed.
